The European Track Cycling Championships are the set of European championship events for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling and are regulated by the European Cycling Union. The European Cycling Union is a continental confederation of the International Cycling Union (UCI). The UEC was founded on 7th April 1990 in Zurich (SUI) in the presence of representatives of 18 countries. Currently 48 countries are members of the UEC.

The biggest change is that there will be no Womens 35-39 and 50+ Sprint. There will be 2 qualification races in the Mens 45-49 Points in Fridays afternoon session with the final that evening. This is neccessary due to the large number of entries received. Kulhavy Jaroslav from the Czech Republic won the Elite Men race and grant his country the first Gold medal. Earlier today Leumann Katrine won her second gold medal when won the Elite Women race.
