THE groups for the 2010 Championship League Darts have now been confirmed, ahead of the tournament's begin this month. Over £200,000 in prize money is on offer in the tournament, which is streamed exclusively on the internet and played over 9 days from Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex. The eight players for Group One, on Tuesday September 7, are directed by world number one Phil Taylor, who won the first Championship League Darts in 2008. Championship League Darts comprises a PDC darts tournament that utilises a league and legs format similar to the Premier League but offers the top players away of the top 8 in the PDC Order of Merit a chance to compete for the championship. It is the 1st ever darts tournament to be solely broadcast on and funded by Internet distribution.

James Wade, who was the Group One winner last year, is joined by Mervyn King, Adrian Lewis, debutant Simon Whitlock, Mark Walsh, Colin Lloyd and Robert Thornton in competing on the opening day. The event sees the eight players face each other once in the round-robin group stage over the best of 11 legs, with prize money of £50 per leg won on offer. The top four players after the completion of the league phase progress to the semi-finals and final, where prize money increases to £100 per leg.The Group Winner will progress to October's Winners Group, while the bottom two players from the league table will be eliminated, and the remaining five players progress to the next group, where they are joined by three other players.

Gary Anderson and Paul Nicholson will make their debuts in Group Two, alongside Ronnie Baxter, while reigning champion Colin Osborne is joined by Andy Hamilton and Co Stompe in entering for Group Three. World number two Raymond van Barneveld will compete for the first time in Championship League Darts as one of the three Group Four entrants on Tuesday September 21, alongside world number five Terry Jenkins and Kevin Painter. September 22 and 23 will see Group Five and Group Six played, with the last two groups being followed by the Winners Group from October 12-14. The 2009 Championship League Darts live will come to you starting on September 15th. There are eight groups playing with the first round September 15th through the 17th, and another the 22nd through the 24th. Another round is near the end of October with the winner's group playing on October 22nd. There are over 200,000 pounds up for grabs for this tournament, and the winner of this tournament will get an invite to the 2009 Partypoker.com Grand Slam of Darts, as well as the runner-up. There are eleven legs of this tournament, and the players compete for best of each, with no draws being made, and the semi-finals the best of the 11. The final will be the best of thirteen legs. The players will get two points for a win, and zero points if they lose. The top four players from each round robin phase go to the semifinals. The prize money is 50 pounds per leg, and it goes to 100 for the semis and the final in the group games.

The winners group will receive 100 per leg, and 200 for the semi and final matches. The losers of the semi final rounds will receive 2500 pounds each while the runner up gets a cash prize of 5000.
