German Masters Beachvolley Live

Beach Volleyball takes the stage this year for the German Masters, held in Washingtonplatz in Berlin. The event will feature 16 men's and 16 women's draws for a total of 32 teams, and they will play for five days throughout the week, from Wednesday, June 17^th to Sunday, June 21^st. This event will feature the Country Quota play-off on Wednesday, with the qualifiers on Thursday. The very next day is the Main Draw, with it continuing the next day, with the semifinals at the end of the day. Then, on Sunday, the finals will be held.

The last event played was the Austrian Masters, which was on June 4^th through the 7^th, with the women's final between two German teams, Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig, and Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmier on the other side of the net. The game was over in two sets, with the first being hard fought, but finally Goller and Ludwig were able to take it. They came back with increased confidence on the second set, and took that much more easily than the first, winning them a spot at the German Masters. The girls said that they had mixed feelings when playing against Holtwick and Semmier, because all four are from Germany, and that they wanted to win, but felt a little guilty at the same time.

In the men's competition, it was Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira Collado that stood up to prevent Germany from sweeping both the men's and women's events. The two Spaniards defeated Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann from Germany, with three sets, 13:21, 25:23 and 15:11. This is the second time this season that the pair of Brink and Reckermann have been sent to second place, Herrera and Gavira Collada certainly showed their stuff and will be competing in the German Masters on the 17^th. If you want to watch this European Beach Tour event then get your membership at the links on this page and don't miss the German Masters starting on June 17^th, 2009.
