If you love field hockey then you'll love watching the FIH World Cup 2010 which has six competitions this week plus the 11th championship round. Canada and Argentina will face off, as well as Netherlands and Korea. Germany and New Zealand play each other along with South Africa and India and then Australia and Pakistan and Spain and England are matched up. Besides these matches we have the 11th place match on Thursday, March 11th which will be followed by the Semi-Finals and the following day will see the 9th place match. The Bronze and the Gold medal matches will be held on Saturday, March 13th. The Hockey World Cup is also called the Hockey World Championships and it is overseen by the International Hockey Federation or the FIH for short. It was began in 1971 and has been held every four years in between the Summer Olympics. The women also have an event known as the Women's Hockey World Cup.

The last World Cup we had was held in 2006 at the Warsteiner Hockey Park in Monchengladbach, Germany. In that particular event Germany beat Australia in the final with a score of 4-3. The Netherlands have three field hockey titles and Germany has two with India and Australia only one title each.
