The EuroHockey Nations Championships is here for 2009, having been played last in 2007. The tournament began in 1970 and is a European field hockey tournament that is overseen by the European Hockey Federation. The men were the only ones playing back in 1970 but the women's begin in 1980 and this action packed tournament has been going on every two years since 2003. How it works, is that the winner and the runner-up are able to compete in the Hockey World Cup and the Olympics, only when the tournament is held close to the Summer Olympic Games.

Germany has won the tournament for the men six different times, while the Netherlands and Spain have won it twice. For the women, it's the Netherlands that are one top, the tournament only being held six times and they won it five of those, since the women's didn't start until 1980. The women's tournament which didn't get won by the Netherlands was on by England. The tournament was held every four years until 2003, when they began holding it every two years.

The most recent games was held August 19th to August27th and it was at the Belle Vue Regional Hockey Centre in Manchester, England. This tournament was won by The Netherlands, who beat Spain in the final 3-2. The 2009 Tournament for the men will be played at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands and will be from Monday, August 24th to Friday, August 28th.
