The Commonwealth Games is a multiple sporting event that is an international competition and is held in Olympic-esque format, every four years. The Commonwealth nations total 54, and there are seventy one teams that compete in the Games. They come from four Home Nations, which are England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales as well as Guernsey, Jersey,, Cook Islands, Norfolk Island, Cook Islands and Isle of Man. The games are administered by the CGF, which also oversees the program and decides which cities the competition will be held in. Now, however, we head into the 2010 edition of the Commonwealth Games, which are scheduled to run October 3rd through the 14th and will be hosted in New Delhi, India this year. This is the largest multisporting event to be held in India, and the games will open at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. This is only the 2nd time for Asia to host the games, the last time being in 1998.
