The Engage Super League of Rugby had a great season in 2008, with record broken all over the place, and this year should be even better. In 1996 the season moved from winter to summer, and most of the Super League teams are based in Great Britain. There are fourteen teams and they play a total of 27 games throughout the season.

This year, for the first time there will be Super League competitions in five different countries in a single season including England, Scotland, Wales, France and Spain. The winners compete against the premier teams of the Australiasian National Rugby League (NRL) in the World Cup Challenge. Before that happens, the teams compete until there are eight teams left, which play in the playoffs ending in the last game called The Grand Final.

The fourteen teams that make up the Super League are the Bradford Bulls, Castleford Tigers, Hull Kingston Rovers, Leeds Rhinos, Catalans Dragons, Salford City Reds, St. Helens, Celtic Crusaders, Harlequins RL, Wakefield Wildcats, Warrington Wolves, Huddersfield Giants, Hull FC and Wigan Warriors. St. Helens has been the dominating force this entire century with a multitude of wins. As for the recent years, last seasons winners were the Leeds Rhinos. The Rhinos also took the 2007 season and the 2006 season title went to St. Helens.
