K1 Fighting Live

K1 Fighting is a great sport that stretches across the entire globe, and is a kick-boxing competition that started in Tokyo, Japan. It is administered by the FEG, or Fighting and Entertainment Group, which have events in Japan, but also all around the world in what is fast becoming the most popular fighting sport out there – mixed martial arts. K1 is a combination of techniques from sports like Karate, Taekwondo, Muay Thai and Kickboxing as well as traditional boxing and Savate and San Shou as well as other Martial Arts.

The main competition is the K-1 World Grand Prix, in which fighters compete in regional finals to be a part of. The K1 Fighting Events are licensed and there are various divisions, including a brand new Middleweight division called K-1 Max. There are six K-1 World Grand Prix tournaments around the world with the finals held in Japan at the Osaka Dome. The top eight move onto the Tokyo Dome, also in Japan. However, there are many different tournaments in this sport that are competed in all over the world to get to the finals, where future stars are born.

Last year, the Champion's for K-1 were Semmy Schilt and Badr Hari as runner up. In 2008, Remy Bonjasky took the title with no runner up and in 2007 it was Semmy Schilt and Peter Aerts. Other winners through the years since 2000 have included Ernesto Hoost and Mark Hunt and runner-ups have been Ray Sefo, Francisco Filho and Jerome Le Banner in 2002.
