The most elite league championship in all of Southern Hemisphere Rugby is the National Rugby League, or NRL, which consists of fifteen Australian based teams and one out of New Zealand. The events run from fall to spring in both Australia and New Zealand, with the Grand Final at the end. The NRL Competition is also known by the Telstra Premiership after the sponsor, and has been going on since 1908. The very end of the NRL League culminates in the World Club Challenge, between whichever NRL Team wins the Grand Final, and the champions of the European Super League.

The teams include the Brisbane Broncos, The Bulldogs, based out of Sydney, The Canberra Raiders, The Sharks, also out of Sydney, the Gold Coast Titans, the Manly-Warrningah Sea Eagles, Melbourne Storm, New Zealand Warriors, out of Auckland, the Newcastle Knights, and the North Queensland Cowboys. Plus, there are the Parramatta Eels, out of Sydney, The Penrith Panthers, The St. George Lilawarra Dragons, The South Sydney Rabbitohs, The Sydney Roosters and the Wests Tigers.

Three teams currently hold 20 points on the leaderboard. The St. George Illawarra, The Bulldogs, and the Gold Coast. Melbourne is in fourth place with 19 and Brisbane just one point below them in fifth place. The season started in May, and you'll want to watch it through to its conclusion.
