Dan Carter Is Finally Back

Dan CarterThe World of Rugby sees fly-half from New Zealand Dan Carter come back after six months gone, with an injured Achilles tendon. He sustained the injury while playing for Perpinan, in their match against Stade Francais in Christchurch on January 31st. The twenty-seven year old player was able to finish the full eighty minutes for Southbridge, when they beat Hornby at Denton Oval 34-13 in Canterbury Club rugby on Saturday. The player's return brought media to the match, and a crowd of 2000 spectators, and experts are judging that he is expected to be considered for Canterbury's Air New Zealand Cup, their opener, against North Harbour on August first.

Carter was born in Southbridge near Christchurch, and this year he played for USA Perpignan in the French Top Fourteen. He returns to New Zealand to play for Canterbury, joining the Crusaders for the 2010 Super 14/Super 15 season. Besides the High School All Boys RFC, Carter has played with Canterbury for Provincial Clubs, Professionally since 2008 with Perpignan, and with the Crusaders off and on in Super Rugby. He has also been with the All Blacks since 2003.

About his recovery, Carter said that you can only do so much work in the gym and speed work, but its different until you hit the field, so he was pleased that he was able to play, and perform so well in the game at Denton Oval. He may be able to make his way back to the All Blacks quest for their Tri-Nations matches when they play South Africa and Australia in September of this year.
