Robby Albarado is beaming right now. The 36-year old Jockey took home his third consecutive win from the Stephen Foster Handicap on Saturday at Churchill Downs, proving his worth to owners and trainers alike. He rode the four year old son of Macho Uno, Macho Again, for victory this year, in a familiar move to fans, moving from last place on the track to first. Albarado also won last year with Curlin, and was victorious in 2007, that time on Flashy Bull Macho beat Asiatic Boy by a length at the race on Saturday.
The one and 1/8th mile race saw Macho Again and Albarado moving to the lead on the outside as Einstein, who had been a 6-5 favorite to win, was blocked by a solid wall of horses. Albarado said that the race was set up perfect for them, and that it wasn't his intention to go that wide. He said he just put the horse in a path that would lead him around the other horses. Albarado had won 5 of 11 races on Saturday.
Macho Again just finished a sixth placed race on May 1st at the Alysheba Stakes, but the victory at Churchill is certain to drown the memory of that finish. Trainer Dallas Stewart said that the Whitney Handicap at Saratoga , held August 8th, would be the next goal for Macho Again.
